That's what I thought until Barbie's friend rocked a bald head and still looked amazingly happy, strong, and flawless. Barbie can ALSO stand tall and defeat Cancer on top of it all. I'm so proud of Barbie['s friend].

She’s had a dream house, lived in Malibu, had a Ferrari, been on DWTS, and even ran for President. When you stand 1000 miles away and squint your eyes, Barbie and her friends really are positive role models: being able to afford a multi-million dollar dream house during a recession in a southern California alone while also paying monthly payments on a foreign sports car, compete in a prime-time television dance competition AND run for office?!? Today’s women really can do anything…

That’s what I thought until Barbie’s friend rocked a bald head and still looked amazingly happy, strong, and flawless. Barbie can ALSO stand tall and defeat Cancer on top of it all. I’m so proud of Barbie['s friend].

From Good.com
“Mattel, the makers of Barbie, announced last month that a hairless “friend of Barbie” will “be distributed exclusively to children’s hospitals and other hospitals treating children with cancer throughout the U.S. and Canada, directly reaching girls who are most affected by hair loss.” The decision came after a Facebook group called “Beautiful and Bald Barbie! Let’s see if we can get it made” scored thousands of “likes” within hours of its creation.”

From a brand perspective, Barbie dolls and young girls have always been associated with each other. Barbie dolls bring comfort to children. Barbie is beautiful, mature, fashionable, and strong. It seems only logical to show that same strength in the form that children with cancer are, bald, when they need Barbie the most. Barbie is going through the same thing and looks great- she will get you through it!
Wishing for a Bald Barbie!

Ultimately, this will make the brand loyalty with Barbie stronger between the brand and children with cancer.

I approve and Support! For every doll purchased, MGA will donate $1 to cancer research at City of Hope cancer center in Duarte, Calif. Since childhood toys teach societal norms just as much as media or pop culture, it’s important to see companies like MGA and Mattel taking a positive step to show kids in unusual circumstances that they’re normal, too. You can donate to City of Hope Cancer Center here.

Brand names: Tablet-world Domination

I don't think that Apple is at the degree of Tablet-world domination just yet.

Apple is on the verge of doing what few others have: changing the English language.

When you have a boo-boo, you reach for a Band-Aid not a bandage. When you need to blow your nose, you ask for Kleenex not tissue. If you decide to look up something online, you Google instead of search for it. And if you want to buy a tablet computer, there’s a good chance there’s only one name you’ll remember. The Associated Press released this opinion on April 8th, 2012.

I don’t think that Apple is at the degree of Tablet-world domination just yet. It is certainly a possibility, though. I have definitely been an apple monogamist for the majority of my computer-literate life (and since I am under 35 years old, I have been computer-literate for close to 95% of my life). To me, there is just no other option.

Within the Apple brand, I do agree that iPad is synonymous with tablet computer. This could be dangerous. Like the iPhone, Apple releases a newer version and the masses need little to no convincing to up-sell. The previous version is then named obsolete and there is only one product…again.

Perhaps Apple (again, we are talking about Apple in a vaccuum) should take a lesson from Toyota with the new line of Priuses. People are now not talking about having the most popular hybrid vehicle, but are asking which one by the auto maker.

Outside of the vaccuum, there are many other types of tablet computers (Amazon Kindle Fire, Asus Transformer Prime, HTC Jetstream, Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2, Pantech Element, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Sony P Tablet, T-Mobile G-Slate) that make this Apple loyalist wonder how other fruit tastes. While they still seem to be drowning in the wake of Apple’s iPad, the simple fact that I am wondering what the products are like seems to be a good sign.

Making my morning sample sale rounds, I stumble upon this amazing and inspirational design find. Like a starving artist, this may look like an ordinary, ugly, empty bowl saved from 1972 that probably should have been thrown away at the last church tag sale. At the very least, it should have been given to a homeless man to collect coins on Santa Monica Blvd. Possibly even better, a cat-lady recluse could have used it to collect chockees like buttons and thimbles to share with the voices in her head.

BUT WAIT!

Taken from his website, :, “Ojai Valley Taxidermy began its long journey in the summer of 1981. Intrigued by a do it yourself bird mounting kit ordered from the back of a magazine, Chuck Testa’s initial curiosity became a hobby and continues on.

Knowing the Taxidermy business was the right fit and willing to throw caution to the wind, Ojai Valley Taxidermy opened its doors full time in 1987. Housed in the beautiful Ojai Valley of Southern California, Taxidermy is a most unusual business for the area more known for exclusive artists, entertainers and millionaires.”

Chuck Testa has also been featured on CNBC! Thanks to IFC program called “Rhett & Link: Commercial Kings”, which decided to help him make a commercial to boost business, Chuck’s commercial has gotten over 2.8 million hits on Youtube.
